Nancy Zeltsman, Artistic Director
Nancy created ZMF to bring people together to share unforgettable, stimulating musical experiences in an atmosphere of support and camaraderie. She organizes ZMF throughout the year, aided by this talented team of assistants. Nancy selects a different faculty for each event and tailors the program to the specialties they wish to share--thereby creating a unique event each year for both new and repeat participants.
Mike Truesdell, Operations Manager
Mike is a veteran of ten past ZMFs and now a frequent ZMF faculty member. He also serves on the Board of ZMF, Inc. as Treasurer. Truesdell is Assistant Professor of Percussion at University of Northern Colorado, and Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University. He performs widely including with International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE). Mike earned his DMA from The Juilliard School.
Dane Palmer, Production Manager
Originally from Ohio, Dane now lives in Maryland and is the percussion instructor at Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, WV. He holds a MM in Marimba performance from The Boston Conservatory and a BM in Percussion performance from Baldwin Wallace University. He is also back in school pursuing nursing which has been a lifelong interest. Dane is the wizard at ZMF who always saves the day!
Michael Ptacin, Marketing Assistant
Michael Ptacin, based in Dallas, TX, regularly freelances on drum set and percussion for musicals. He premiered David Gillingham's Concerto No. 1 for Marimba and Orchestra in 2005, and has commissioned several chamber works. Michael received his doctorate in percussion performance from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He has assisted ZMF since 2010 overseeing a lot of our media profile.
Yu-Wei (Una) Cheng, Production Assistant
Una Cheng was born in Taiwan and now lives in Boston, MA. She received her BM from The Boston Conservatory with Keith Aleo, Kyle Brightwell, Doug Perkins, Samuel Z. Solomon, and Nancy Zeltsman. Currently, she is an AV Specialist at Boston Conservatory at Berklee, and an Assistant Production Manager at the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra. She was a participant and on the ZMF Support Staff at ZMF 2015.
Ayami Okamura, Administrative Assistant
Based in Boston, Ayami holds a BM from Kyoto City University of the Arts, and a MM from The Boston Conservatory. She recently won the Italy International Marimba Competition and the Boston Conservatory Concerto Competition. Ayami has performed as a guest on recitals with guitarist Eliot Fisk and marimbist Gordon Stout, and performs with Dan deSimone as the Shiki Duo. She attended ZMF in 2011, 2014 and 2015.
